The challenge with learning entirely from free videos is putting all that information together into a clear path. It’s easy to jump from one video to another without knowing what to practice next or how different concepts connect.
My courses give you a structured learning path, taking you step by step from fundamental skills to more advanced concepts and showing you how to apply them to real music.

Are there lessons for my current skill level?
Yes. My courses are designed for drummers at different stages of their Jazz drumming journey.
If you’re new to Jazz, you’ll build a strong foundation in swing, comping, brushes, coordination, trading 4s, musical phrasing, and playing with other musicians.
If you’re more experienced, you can work on deeper groove, touch, advanced coordination, soloing, odd meters, Brazilian rhythms, Latin Jazz, and other advanced concepts.

Should I follow the lessons in order?
Yes, especially if you’re new to Jazz drumming.
The courses are designed so concepts and skills build on one another. Jumping ahead can sometimes mean missing a small but important skill you’ll need later.
More experienced drummers can, of course, jump into specific lessons when they want to work on a particular area.
I don’t read music. Will I be lost?
Not at all.
You don’t need to be a strong music reader to get started. I use clear video demonstrations and musical explanations so you can see and hear what you’re learning.
As you progress, you’ll naturally develop enough drum-reading ability to understand the exercises, grooves, and concepts more easily.
The goal isn’t to make reading music another obstacle. It’s to develop your ears, instincts, coordination, and reading skills together.
Will I learn how to play with a band?
Absolutely. This is one of the biggest focuses of my teaching.
You’ll learn how to comp with intention, lock in with the bass, support soloists, trade 4s and 8s musically, control your dynamics, and interact with other musicians.
You’ll also practice with professionally recorded backing tracks, helping you develop the feel, ears, and musical awareness needed for real playing situations.
This isn’t just about memorizing licks and patterns. It’s about learning to listen, respond, and make music.
I’ve tried online lessons before and they didn’t help. What’s different here?
A lot of online drum instruction teaches individual techniques without showing you how everything fits together musically.
I’ve built my courses from decades of real-world experience performing and teaching Jazz, with a simple progression:
Learn it → Practice it → Use it in music.
That’s the connection I will help you develop.
What is the difference between purchasing a course and joining Jazz Drum School on YouTube?
When you purchase a course through the Von Baron Music Store, you receive lifetime access to the course you purchased. There’s no recurring subscription.
When you join Jazz Drum School on YouTube, you pay a monthly membership and receive access to the courses and other content included with your membership level for as long as your membership remains active.
Both options have the same lessons, PDF’s, drumless tracks and apps. It’s simply a choice between lifetime access through a purchase or ongoing access through a monthly YouTube membership.
How do I access a course I’ve purchased?
After your payment has been processed, you’ll receive an email to finish setting up your account. From your account login page, you’ll find the “Memberships” link to your courses and “Downloads” link to your downloads.
Can I watch my courses on my phone or tablet?
Yes.
You can watch your courses on an iPhone, Android phone, iPad, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer using a compatible web browser.
Is there a trial period for courses?
Yes, for the Brushes Mastery Course and lessons packs there is a 2-Day money-back trial period. During that time you will have access to all of the lessons and the downloads for each lesson will be unlocked after the 2-day trial.
Because the other course purchases and digital downloads provide immediate access to digital content and downloadable materials, I don’t offer a trial period for those purchases.
If you’d like to explore all of my courses and the downloads before making a lifetime purchase, joining Jazz Drum School membership on my YouTube channel is a great alternative.
Can I get a refund?
Some products include a 2-Day Money-Back Period. For these products, you can request a full refund within 48 hours of the date and time of purchase. After 48 hours, all sales are final.
Other courses and digital products provide immediate access to downloadable materials and therefore do not include a refund period. These purchases are final once payment has been processed.

What is Jazz Drum School?
Jazz Drum School is my YouTube channel and online Jazz drumming school.
In addition to hundreds of free Jazz drumming videos, you can become a channel member to access structured courses, Drum Practice Apps, and other members-only learning content included with your membership level.
How do I access my courses as a YouTube Member?
Sign into the YouTube account you used to become a member of Jazz Drum School.
You’ll find the courses and other learning content included with your membership directly through the Jazz Drum School YouTube channel.
Do I keep the courses if I cancel my YouTube Membership?
Your YouTube Membership gives you access to the courses included with your membership while your qualifying membership is active.
If you’d prefer permanent access without a monthly subscription, you can purchase courses separately through the Von Baron Music Store.
Can I cancel my Jazz Drum School YouTube Membership anytime?
Yes.
YouTube Memberships are managed through YouTube, and you can cancel your membership through your YouTube account.
Your access will continue according to YouTube’s current membership and billing terms after cancellation.
Drum Practice Apps
What are the Drum Practice Apps?
My interactive Drum Practice Apps are designed to help you practice, rather than simply watch another lesson.
They give you interactive ways to work on important drumming skills such as timing, groove, comping, soloing, and musical consistency.
They’re also a great companion to the courses because they help you put what you’re learning into practice.
Do I need to install the Drum Practice Apps?
No.
The Drum Practice Apps run directly in your web browser. There’s nothing to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Simply follow the access link provided with your purchase and start practicing. They work best in the Google Chrome browser.
What devices can I use?
The Drum Practice Apps can be used on compatible phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.
Some apps use your device’s microphone or work best with headphones. Instructions are provided where needed.
How do I access Drum Practice Apps I’ve purchased?
After your payment has been processed, you’ll receive an email to finish setting up your account. From your account login page, you’ll find the link to your drum practice apps.
Drumless Tracks & Digital Downloads
What are drumless tracks?
Drumless tracks—also called drum backing tracks or drum play-along tracks—are recordings in which the drum part has been removed or intentionally left out.
That means you get to be the drummer in the band.
They’re a great way to practice timing, groove, fills, dynamics, musical interaction, and different styles in a realistic musical setting.
Drumless tracks can also be useful to other musicians for practice and other uses permitted by the product license.
How do I access a digital product I’ve purchased?
Once your payment has been processed, you’ll receive a payment confirmation email as well as an email containing your digital download link(s).
You’ll also see available download links on your order confirmation page immediately after checkout.
If you don’t see the emails right away, allow a few minutes and check your spam or junk folder.
Is there a limit to how many times I can download a digital product?
Yes. Digital products can currently be downloaded up to three times.
If you use all three downloads and genuinely need another one, contact me at vonbaron@vonbaronmusic.com and I’ll be happy to help.
Digital products are for your personal use and may not be redistributed, shared, copied for others, or resold. Please see the Terms of Service for complete details.
What should I do if I didn’t receive my confirmation or download email?
First, allow about five minutes for the emails to arrive and check your spam or junk folder.

Please include the name and email address used for your order so I can locate it quickly.
I’m having trouble downloading or opening my digital product. What should I do?
If nothing happens when you click the download link, try another web browser or temporarily disable any browser extensions that could interfere with downloads.
If a downloaded file appears corrupted, delete it and download it again.
Download collections may be delivered as standard ZIP files containing MP3 and/or PDF files. Your device may need to unzip the file before you can access the individual files.

Video Exchange Lessons
What is a Video Exchange Lesson?
A Video Exchange Lesson is a convenient way to get personalized drum instruction directly from me without scheduling a live lesson.
You record a video of yourself playing and send it to me along with your questions or anything you’d like help with.
I’ll review your playing and create a personalized video lesson with feedback, demonstrations, exercises, and suggestions to help you improve.
You can watch your lesson whenever it’s convenient and return to it as often as you’d like while you practice.
How can I purchase Video Exchange Lessons?
You have two options:
Individual Video Exchange Lesson
Purchase one personalized Video Exchange Lesson whenever you’d like feedback on your playing.
4-Lesson Video Exchange Pack
Purchase four Video Exchange Lessons together and use them over time as you continue learning and improving.
The 4-Lesson Pack is a great option if you’d like ongoing personalized instruction without having to purchase a new lesson each time.
How does the 4-Lesson Video Exchange Pack work?
Your pack includes four separate Video Exchange Lessons.
Each exchange is treated as its own lesson. You submit your playing and questions, receive my personalized video response, practice what we’ve worked on, and then use your next exchange when you’re ready for more feedback.
This creates an ongoing learning process:
Send → Learn → Practice → Send Again
Do I have to use all four lessons at once?
No. The idea is to use the lessons as your playing develops.
After receiving one Video Exchange Lesson, you’ll usually get the most benefit by spending some time practicing and applying the feedback before sending your next video.
Can each of my four lessons cover something different?
Yes. Each Video Exchange Lesson can focus on whatever area of your drumming you’d like help with.
You might work on swing feel in one exchange, brushes in another, soloing in the next, or continue working on the same skill over several exchanges.
Can I purchase another lesson or 4-Lesson Pack later?
Absolutely.
You can purchase an individual Video Exchange Lesson whenever you’d like some additional feedback, or purchase another 4-Lesson Pack if you’d like to continue working together over a longer period.
Can I share my 4-Lesson Pack with someone else?
No. Video Exchange Lessons and 4-Lesson Packs are purchased for one student’s personal use and cannot be transferred or divided between multiple students.
Payments, Orders & Refunds
Can I pay in my local currency?
Yes. The Von Baron Music Store automatically displays prices in your local currency. At checkout, you can pay directly in your displayed currency using the available payment methods.
Please note that your bank, credit card company, PayPal, or other payment provider may apply its own fees or exchange-rate policies depending on your payment method and location.
Some banks may also ask you to confirm an online purchase by text message, app notification, or email.
Is checkout secure?
Yes.
Payments are securely processed through established payment providers including Stripe and PayPal. Your payment information is handled by the payment provider rather than stored directly by the Von Baron Music Store.
Can I cancel or get a refund for a digital product order?
Because digital products provide immediate access to downloadable or online content, digital product orders cannot be canceled or refunded once payment has been processed.
